What gives you peace in trouble, writer?
Is it your success? Your word count? Your idea for your next book? Your number of likes or readers? Those are all beautiful gifts from our King and wonderful things to strive toward as we serve Him. But we want to be careful about where we place our peace. The location of our peace determines the steadiness of our lives and emotions. So here is the good news…
“Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,” – 1 Peter 1:3
Isn’t that beautiful, writer? We have been given a living hope. Do you know what’s cool about a living thing? A living thing grows. It takes shape. It gains definition. It grows larger than when it first appeared. That’s what our hope from God is like. Much like the stories He gives us.
And that is a very safe place to draw peace from. Because here’s another thing. The second half of that sentence from 1 Peter 1 reads…
“…and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade. This inheritance is kept in heaven for you, who through faith are shielded by God’s power until the coming of the salvation that is ready to be revealed in the last time.” – 1 Peter 1:4,5
You have an inheritance being kept in Heaven for you! And it’s from Heaven—from that inheritance—that we draw strength, wisdom, and grace for the work God’s given us today.
So how about you, writer? Is your peace placed in the promise of your King and His endless heavenly supply for you? I assure you that you can have full faith in our King’s promise and His inheritance for you. You will finish your book. The courage and provision you need are contained within His promise to you, and as you move forward win faith, you will find 1 Peter 1:7 to be true.
“These have come so that the proven genuineness of your faith—of greater worth than gold, which perishes even though refined by fire—may result in praise, glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed.” – 1 Peter 1:7
As you trust Him to supply your story, you are also giving Him a glory and honor that will testify to His goodness both now and through all eternity. So, I encourage you, writer. Go ahead and pick up your pen again. You DO have everything you need.
