Buffeted by the winds of life and culture? Well, I have good news for you. You’ve been given your story for such a time as this. And this pressure you feel isn’t because you don’t have something important to write, but because you do.
You see, there is never a God-dream that isn’t opposed. The Bible is full of examples. With every promise, every vision, came sudden opposition. Something trying to stop God’s good plan. But here’s the even better news, writer: God is bigger than any opposition you may face With Him on your side, you become the majority in every contest.
And He’s given us a promise. It’s right here in Isaiah 54:11-12…
“O you afflicted one,
Tossed with tempest, and not comforted,
Behold, I will lay your stones with colorful gems,
And lay your foundations with sapphires.
12 I will make your pinnacles of rubies,
Your gates of crystal,
And all your walls of precious stones.Isaiah 54:11-12
Do you know that a ruby is the hardest stone there is, writer? Even harder than diamonds? Our King promises, amidst life’s storms, that He is indeed building our lives. Building our call. Building our stories. And it’s not with everyday things He’s building. Oh no, writer. What God is building into you, He’s building to last so that you can become a refuge for others when they are storm-tossed.
Because that’s what our King does, writer. He uses storms to strengthen us. So take heart! If you’ve felt buffeted lately—don’t give up! Keep writing. God is building your story and your writing into something that will last long after you are gone. Something that will shelter others with His strength for years to come.

You bless me every week!
Who knew rubies are tougher than diamonds?!
I am so glad to hear that, Charlene!!! And yes, I was surprised, too, when I found out about the rubies!
