It’s the Christmas season, writer.
Yes, you heard me right. Though today is Christmas Day—this is just the beginning of the Christmas season. When Christ came to earth, it was not just the end of long years of waiting. It was the beginning of something more marvelous than anyone could have imagined. When Christ came, it marked the end of God’s silence, and the beginning of the time of God’s favor. The day of salvation. (2 Corinthians 6:2)
And here’s the beautiful thing, writer. That story is continuing to this very day. This is the day of God’s favor! This is the day of salvation! This is the day you get to pick up your pen and write, knowing that the Lord—Emmanuel—is God with you. And will strengthen you for every good work. Because Emmanuel, God with us, led to the Pentecost and the Holy Spirit, God in us.
As we move toward the New Year, writer, I encourage you not to take the precious gift of His presence and power for granted. The same spirit that raised Christ Jesus from the dead now lives in you. And so does the story that He’s given you.
So, I challenge you today. As we move forward into 2023, let the wonder of Christmas and the gifts of Emmanuel, God with Us, and the Holy Spirit, God IN us, dwell in you richly as you allow Him to teach and admonish in you and through you in the coming year. As you do your work. As you love your family. And as you capture that story. That one He’s given you alone to write.
“Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and they shall call his name Immanuel”(which means, God with us).” – Matthew 1:23
Merry Christmas!
