Writer, are you feeling weak? Are you feeling tempted to quit? Or to shortcut the Lord’s plan for your life? If you are—no matter what you face or how you may be tempted—I have good news for you today!
For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin. – Hebrews 4:15
Isn’t that good news, writer? Our King not only understands how we feel, He has been there Himself. And do you know what that means? He is able to do two things. He is able to chart a course for us, writer. So that we have a way out of temptation. As it says here…
No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it. – 1 Corinthians 10:13
And when we do fall, He is able to restore us for He Himself has atoned for our sins with His perfect sacrifice. That is a great source of strength, writer. For it is in our communion with Him—in that restored relationship—where our true strength is found as His Spirit quickens our mortal bodies and His word strengthens our faith. Where we ask Him and He gives, like a good Father, the right thing at the right time.
You see, writer, our strength comes from abiding in Him. And when we fear our sins, we cannot abide. But our High Priest has made perfect forever those who are being made holy… (Hebrews 10:14)
For by one sacrifice he has made perfect forever those who are being made holy. – Hebrews 10:14
We do not have to wait for some day to engage in fellowship and seek wisdom and strength from Him. We can do that now. All because of our compassionate High Priest.
So, I encourage you today, writer. The door is wide open! If you are feeling weak or tempted—come to the One who gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak, and whose understanding no man can fathom! (Isaiah 40:28-29)
The Lord is the everlasting God,
the Creator of the ends of the earth.
He will not grow tired or weary,
and his understanding no one can fathom.
29 He gives strength to the weary
and increases the power of the weak. – Isaiah 40:28-29
As you trust the work of our great high priest and lean into Father God, you will find strength—His strength—to carry on.
